I lived in Stewart from '69-'86 and still think of it as home even though I haven't been back there in too long and don't keep in touch with old friends enough. Great pictures! Sorry to say I won't make the reunion.
Your website is great. Plan to visit August 3 this yr. Friend in Smithers recommended this site.
Not a day goes by that I do not long to return to Stewart and Hyder. Our vacation there in 2002 was incredible! I'm always thinking about ways to return.

I was born in stewart in 1971. I only lived there for a few short years before moving to Kamloops. I only remember a few things, but have many pictures of playing in the natural beauty to go along will all the wonderful stories my parents tell. I hope to return home soon to visit with my wife and children. Hope to see you soon. Cheers
I came to live in Stewart in the early 1970. My Dad had secured a position as a miner. I had forgot how beautifull Steward was, I also worked at Keramodies drug store. What a beautiful place to be and my husband now wants to see it too. I cannot wait.

Great site, lots of great information! We are planning a trip to your area this summer and this site sure helped with our planning! I sure hope we see some bears! Keep up the good work. I check the site often to see updates - someone puts in a lot of effort and time into this site. LOVE THE PICTURES! Who is the great photographer?
I have visited your towns a couple years back. I must say this website is great, very easy to use and very professional! So much information and wonderful pictures! I love the virtual tour on the site. I wish our town had a community website like this to show off our great services and features. Keep up the great work! I can't wait to come back to Stewart and Hyder in the near future!
I lived in Stewart from 85-92 (back when I was a Paquette and better know as Bubba) I brought my husband back to see it in 96 and was reasured that it had not changed a bit! Great website - great memories
I lived in Stewart for six months back in the 70's. I was only 7 years old but the experience left a lasting impression. A beautifully mild winter coupled with heaps and heaps of snow made it a child's paradise! Living in Winnipeg I could spend short times outside in winter, but I remember spending hours outside playing in Stewart. I also remember Stewart being a real multicultural mosaic; our neighbours on one side were from Belfast, Ireland, the neighbours on the other side were from Spain. The people in Stewart were the friendliest I'd ever met; a lot of truly unique characters.
We really enjoyed to look at all the photos. Some wonderful shots. If anyone remembers Julian please contact us would love to hear from his friends from the past.
Karin

The internet is allowing me to visit your area without ever leaving my chair. I appreciate whatever effort it took for you to let me visit electronically, since I am not likely to ever actually travel to Stewart-Hyder. I learned of your existence from my Rand-McNally Road Atlas and your web site is just what I needed to learn just exactly would I see, if I were fortunate enough to come for a visit. Even though I have no real connection to your area, I wish that I had. Your web site will let me dream. Thanks.
We lived in Stewart in 1979. My parents both worked at the mine. I have very fond memories of the piles of snow and the great scenery. As kids, we used to ride our bikes over to Hyder and buy candy while our parents sat around the local bar and got "Hyderized". We have some dollar bills on the wall of that bar, I'm curious if it's still open?? Great webside, I loved to see the pictures. Ontario will never compare to the paridise up there. Cheers.
It is so great to see that there is a site devoted to Stewart B.C., I lived there many years ago. And I still think it is one of my favorite places out of where I have lived. I went to Elementary school there, and moved to Alberta in 1983. I see that some things have changed, but many have stayed the same. Some of the businesses are even still there, and named the same. Keep up the good work. Donna
My first of 4 children was born in Stewart in 1974.Dr.Gummer was the doc and the mine was booming !!!!!
Lived in Stewart from 1964-1975
I Love Stewart and most of all the people that live there!!
Nicely, done, very picturesque, represented well by your site. Many friends from afar, have been enjoying the updates. Thanx.
Very nice site I was born in Stewart in 1950 It has wonderful memories and will always be home.
excellent web site. nicely done. was a 7 year old kid when we lived there in 68/69. an unforgettable year. the snow, the scenery, the wildlife. for a city kid it was amazing. i remember there was a little ski hill with a rope tow or something and after school we would go skiing. i think it was night skiing too. and there was so much snow you could climb up on your roof and slide off the edge!! haven't been back since, but one day i'll show my kids!!! your site brings back a lot of memories. thanks.
Hi, My uncle, Bob Melvin, told me about your site last night. We have compared notes about your area. They have driven up there and I did too, a couple of years ago. I loved it. Went on to Fairbanks, then returned to Skagway, and took the Ferry back to BC. Your website is lovely and it was good to visit and see the pictures. I will return! Oh, by the way, I thought the movie remake of "The Thing" was REALLY scary. When I was there I drove nearly to where it was filmed, did get to see Salmon Glacier. Was a little afraid I was going to be the only one left on the mountain, as late afternoon passed to early evening. Good thing it stayed light so long!!!
I'll be back! Marti
I'm delighted about how successful the internet service in Stewart/Hyder has become since it's inception in April 1997. It was a tough road for those who brought it to realization with the help of the Library. I would like to say hi to those I worked with, and I wish you all the best. Thank you for letting me be a part of bringing the world to Stewart/Hyder.
Hey Everybody! Going to Stewart was the best experience of my life...the people are great and the scenery is magnificant! I LOVE STEWART, AND MATT & RHETT!!!
A past resident says "well done"
Was born in Stewart. Lived there from 74-85. Brings back lots of memories for me. Thanks for the site.

On the evening of August 14, 2002 a Canadian customs agent was killed in in a traffic accident. Our tour group met the girl and is concerned about the event's facts. Can anybody add any information about the event? Please email me at droth05@banet.net
I did live in stewart at one time and loved it very much, wish i never move from my hyder freinds. They are great people.
It's nice to see such a comprehensive website out there for the Stewart and Hyder area. I am impressed with all the hard work that has been put into this site. The photos are amazing....this is what makes me want to visit your area - and I plan to next summer. Looks like a wonderful place to visit. Thank you for this website!
I visited Stewart & Hyder in 1996, scouting BC for a place to move to from Vancouver. I love your area. Love it. Didn't move there because; 1) didn't know if I could find rental, 2) Too far from my kids. I plan to visit again, some day.
looking forward to the reunion. Seeing the old pictures brings back wonderful memories. I do remember in '66 when we arrived that there was an awful lot of snow, but, we had just arrived from England and I am sure any amount of snow was too much.
very nice site!
I love this site with all the info and pictures. I lived in Stewart 1966-1968, and visited a few times, it's a great town. More pictures please.
Love Stewart and Hyder. We "discovered" it last year and had to come back this year. Even better than we remembered. Found a great place in Stewart to get my hair cut. We plan to return next year and bring some others with us. Would like to see the web site add some pictures of Salmon glacier and the area around there as well as some of the bears in Hyder. Someone did some nice work on this site.
Wow, Che Love it. Great Job!
