Stewart Bulk Terminals is located in the community
of Stewart in northern British Columbia. Traditionally dependent
upon resource industries such as mining and forestry, this
small community is now discovering a new opportunity in shipping.
Stewart is ideally located at the head of the Portland Canal
- a 150 kilometer fjord that is ice free throughout the year
- and on Highway 37A, a paved access to the interior of the
Pacific Northwest.

Stewart Bulk Terminals Ltd. is privately
owned and operated by the partnership of Al Soucie and Jack
Elsworth. The facility is an enhanced and upgraded dock that
loaded concentrate from the Granduc / Newmont copper mine
at the zenith of its production.
Stewart Bulk Terminals provides full service
to large freighters that carry loads throughout the Pacific
Rim. Stewart Bulk Terminals has developed
a reputation for quality and efficient workmanship, and their
goal is to continue to develop that reputation into a major
presence in the shipping industry of the Pacific Northwest.
Stewart Bulk Terminals, under new management,
has been serving the shipping needs of the Pacific Northwest
since 1993. The capacity of the dock is continually expanding.
It now provides an average loading rate of 800 tonnes per
hour.
Contracts undertaken by the Stewart Bulk Terminals
include:
- Loading the ore from Homestake Mines property at nearby
Eskay Creek, BC
- Loading bags of ore for Homestake's SNIP property, located
north by the Alaskan border
- Loading the ore from Huckleberry Mines of Houston, BC
- Stewart Bulk Terminals has also unloaded barges with product
destined for truck transportation.
